Signature Cocktail: Wahoo lo Squero, Gennaro Florio’s Fresh Tribute to the Venice You Don’t Expect

There’s a corner of Venice where time seems to have stopped, where wood is still bent by hand and gondolas are born before the astonished eyes of passersby. This is the Squero di San Trovaso, one of the very few boatyards still active in the city, just steps from the Nani Mocenigo Palace. It is precisely here that the inspiration for the new summer 2026 signature cocktail was born, created by our bartender Gennaro Florio for The G Lounge & Garden: Wahoo lo Squero.

A name that is already an exclamation — the one that spontaneously escapes every visitor the first time they discover this secret corner of Venice. Gennaro wanted to capture that very sense of wonder in a glass: fresh, vibrant, capable of surprising from the very first sip, just as the Squero surprises anyone who encounters it for the first time.

The Recipe

Fill a shaker halfway with ice cubes, then pour in 5 cl of cranberry juice, the juice of half a freshly squeezed lime, and 1 cl of coconut syrup. Shake vigorously for about 8 seconds, letting the flavors blend in harmony, then strain into a tall tumbler filled with ice. Garnish with a lime slice and a straw, ready to bring refreshment to every view over the canal.

The result is a vividly colored cocktail with a sweet-and-sour balance between the tang of cranberry, the brightness of lime, and the enveloping softness of coconut: a small sensory journey that echoes, sip after sip, the artisanal magic of the Squero di San Trovaso, where every gondola is born from centuries of handed-down craftsmanship.

We look forward to welcoming you to The G Lounge & Garden to discover it in person — perhaps after a stroll to the Squero: the most authentic Venice, in a glass.
