Chantecler at Nani Mocenigo Palace: Venice as an Island of Identity

In the heart of Venice, among quiet calli and shimmering reflections on the water, Chantecler chose Hotel Nani Mocenigo Palace to unveil “You Are an Island”, a collection that is both a narrative and a statement of identity.

It is a natural encounter: Capri’s radiant spirit meets the layered, aristocratic charm of the Serenissima, finding in Venice the perfect stage. Here, where water defines both boundaries and connections, the meaning of the collection resonates even more deeply. “You are an island” is not merely a geographical reference, but an invitation to embrace one’s individuality. Each person becomes a unique ecosystem, capable of connecting with others through a shared sea of beauty and awareness. Wearing a Chantecler creation becomes an intimate, almost ritual gesture—translating personal identity into light and form.

The collection moves fluidly between heritage and experimentation. The iconic Campanella is reimagined through a pavé of oval stones set with prongs, creating deeper reflections and a new sense of movement. Shades of Sky Blue topaz and amethyst meet contemporary contrasts, such as black titanium paired with rose gold in the Logo line. An artistic dimension emerges through the collaboration with Roberto di Alicudi, where the ancient Sicilian Pincisanti technique brings to life enamel tones of coral and deep teal. Meanwhile, the Paillettes line evokes Capri’s Dolce Vita through shimmering, mobile surfaces enriched with emeralds and rubies.

Providing the setting, the Nani Mocenigo Palace is far more than a luxury hotel—it is a living chapter of Venetian history.

Located in the district of Dorsoduro, this late-Gothic palace was born from the union of two noble families, the Barbarigo and the Nani, and long stood as a vibrant cultural hub. Today, thanks to the vision of Paolo Caffi and Barbara Caffi, it has been restored to the city with a balance of authenticity and refinement. Its interiors preserve 18th-century frescoes by Jacopo Guarana and stuccoes attributed to Alessandro Vittoria, while the hidden garden—featuring a rare 15th-century wellhead—offers a secluded oasis of calm. It is a suspended space, where time seems to slow and every detail invites contemplation.

The experience is completed by the culinary journey at La Bauta, led by Gennaro Esposito.

Here, Mediterranean roots intertwine with Venetian tradition in a seasonal narrative shaped by territory and craftsmanship. Alongside him, a team of talents composed of Raffaele Iasevoli (Executive Chef) and Raffaele Santoro (Pastry Chef) has crafted a menu entirely dedicated to the vegetal world. It begins with a tartlet of vignarola and wild herbs, bringing the garden to the table in its most authentic expression; continues with asparagus treated with finesse, paired with wild hops (bruscandoli) and hollandaise sauce; and leads to the Riserva San Massimo risotto, creamy and profound, brightened by white asparagus, orange, and almonds. The Venetian-style artichoke, with pecorino and saffron foam, adds structure and a sense of memory, while the dessert Daisy—combining kumquat, almond, and yuzu—brings the narrative to a close with an elegant balance of acidity and sweetness, leaving the mark of a cuisine that seamlessly blends lagoon tradition with Mediterranean influences.

In this encounter between high jewelry, history, and fine dining, a stay at the Nani Mocenigo Palace becomes an immersive experience. Not just a journey to Venice, but a deeper exploration—where every guest is invited to recognize themselves as an island: unique, precious, and one of a kind.
